Garden Buddha

This garden statue of a peaceful Buddha or Buddhist monk cradling a tiny rabbit in his hands always brings a smile to my face. It reminds me of the ancient Eastern doctrine of ahimsa or nonviolence, which advocates causing no harm to all living things, a message that seems to have fallen by the wayside in our crazy world.

Memorial Bench

I often sit on a memorial bench in this peaceful park near where I live. A plaque mounted on the bench says that the woman to whom it is dedicated found tranquility in the park. Although I didn't know her, I like to think that her spirit is still there as I contemplate the trees and the changing seasons.
