I return often to this peaceful park not far from where I live. There is always something new to discover. This time I was greeted by these bright pink rhododendrons in full bloom, a sure sign of spring and the promise of renewal that it brings.

I came across this rusty bicycle propped against a wooden shed and slowly being overtaken by weeds. It had been stripped of all the things -- seat, pedals, brakes, tires, etc. -- that made it useful. Nevertheless, like an old person who has been set aside by society and forgotten, the solitary bike still has dignity and a story to tell.

I might easily have walked by this unassuming window without giving it a second glance. However, I decided to stop and take a closer look at it. In doing so, I was taken with the contrasting rough and smooth textures and rigid geometric shapes softened by the playful patterns on the curtains. All too often, in our search for the exotic, we risk missing the beauty of the ordinary.
